Op 10 Augustus 1942 stortte achter Saamsweg 2 (recht voor u om 04.18 wur een Vickers Wellington Mk III bommenwerper van de RAF neer. Het toestel behoorde tot nr 150 Sqn RAF, had serienummer BJ608 met rompcode JN en was afkomstig van vliegeld Snaith (Yorkshire, Engeland) met als doel de Duitse stad Osnabrück. Op de teruglucht werd het neergeschoten door een Luftwaffe-nachtjager type Messerschmitt Me 110
Translation "On 10 August 1942, a Vickers Wellington Mk III bomber of the RAF crashed behind Saamsweg 2 (right in front of you at 04.18. The aircraft belonged to No. 150 Sqn RAF, had serial number BJ608 with hull code JN and came from Snaith airfield (Yorkshire, England) aiming at the German city of Osnabrück.On the return flight it was shot down by a Luftwaffe nightfighter type Messerschmitt Me 110" |
