Reason for Loss | Aircraft took off from Binbrook at 2120 hrs tasked to lay mines in the Baltic. Homebound the aircraft was intercepted and shot down by night fighter and crashed at 0425 hrs near the road running between Ale and Mattrup, Denmark. Possibly shot down by Uffz Erich Scheding of 3./NJG3 West of Horsens at 0358 hrs. P/O Suffren R.A.A.F. was gravely injured in the crash and died of his injuries on the 16th of February 1945 being buried in Durnbach War Cemetery |
