Miscellaneous Information
Robert was one of three children and had a brother Arthur and two sisters, Emma and Freda. His father Rudolph worked as a carpenter. |
He attended Ritchie Public School, Edmonton, Alberta 1915-1922 and then High school 1922-1923. Between 1923 and 1932 he employed himself doing odd jobs and then went into mixed farming at South Cooking Lake from 1932-1938. He then became a Miner and tractor man at Siscoe Gold Mines between 1938 and 1941, followed by a Hoistman at Stadacona Mines, Rouyn, from 1941-1942. On 28 November 1942 he enlisted and embarked from Halifax for England on 20 August 1943. On arrival on 1 September 1943 he went to 3PRC, followed by 14 OTU, 1660 CU and onwards until arrival at 106 Squadron. |
He enjoyed playing hockey and football. |
