Miscellaneous Information
Frederick was born on 1 October 1912 at Brandon, Manitoba. His father was a caretaker born in London, England and his mother was born in Manchester, England. He went to King George Public School in Brandon, 1918-1927 followed by Brandon Collegiate 1927-1928 (grade 9). He also attended the Business College in Brandon in 1936 (stenography/book keeping). The sports he enjoyed were tennis, baseball and hockey. Frederick worked for C.P.R.in Brandon as a painter, 1928-1932 and then for T. Eaton, Brandon as a hardware manager from 1935 onwards (all in Manitoba). On 28 July 1942, he then enlisted. |
After initial training he was posted to the U.K. and embarked from Boston on 9 October 1943. He arrived in the U.K. at 3PRC on 18 October 1943 and then went to 1(0)AFU 23 November 1943, 16 OTU 25 January 1944, 51 Base 26 April 1944, 97 Sqn 10 August 1944, 50 Sqn 31 August 1944, 227 Squadron 7 October 1944. Sadly Frederick was to lose his life from 227 Squadron two months later on the 6 December 1944. |
