Strictly speaking, he was from the United Kingdom but since he was born in Canada to British parents and then moved back to the UK at age 9 and, taking into account his epitaph, clearly considered himself to be Canadian. |
His parents were married in Lincoln, Ontario in the early 1920s. They returned to Birmingham, West Midlands in 1933, when Victor was 9. His Father was a Silversmith, a flourishing trade in Birmingham at the time, and probably the reason for the 'broken chain' referred to in Victor's epitaph. |
