Miscellaneous Information
George was born at Toronto, Ontario on 17 February 1919. His father was shown as a soldier, born at Hamilton, Ontario and his mother was born in Bristol, England. He had no siblings. The schools he attended were Dufferin Public, Toronto 1925-1933 followed by Jarvis Collegiate, Toronto, 1933-1936. The sports he enjoyed were tennis, handball and baseball and his hobbies biology and nature study. George worked as a calculating operator and priced orders for General Steel Wares in Toronto. He was a Private with the Royal Regiment of Canada 1940-1941. |
He enlisted on 11 March 1941 and after training was posted to the U.K. He embarked from Canada on 6 June 1942 and arrived at 3PRC on 19 June, going on to 10 (O) AFU on 24 July 1942, 14 OTU 22 September 1942. George is later shown as missing on 26 November 1943. He was shot down and became a Prisoner of War at Stalag Luft Camp where he died on 21 July 1944. |
