Miscellaneous Information
James was born on 18 June 1912 at Chicago, Illinois, USA. His father was born in Chicago and was the Foreman of an Overall Plant and his mother, who was deceased at the time of James's enlistment, was born in Hamilton, Ontario. They lived in Winnipeg. The schools he attendedinclude Fort Rouge, Riverview and Lord Roberts between 1918 and 1927, followed by Kelvin school 1927-1929. He worked for Douglas Laird, Grain Broker as a grain clerk 1929-1940 as well as between 1938-1940, studying bookkeeping at Dominion Business college and was on a certified General Accountancy Course at the Cooper Institute of Accountancy. His sport interests were golf, tennis, bowling and hockey and he enjoyed music as a hobby. |
James enlisted on 25 October 1940 and after training was posted to the U.K. He embarked from Canada on 15 August 1941 and arrived at 3 PRC on 15 September 1941 before proceeding to 20 OTU on 6 October 1941, and 142 Squadron on 29 April 1942, Sadly James lost his life the following month on 31 May 1942. |
