Miscellaneous Information
Jack was born on 26 September 1923 at Fort William, Ontario. He had two sisters Kathleen and Elizabeth. The schools he attended were Port Arthur Public school, 1929-1936 and Kirkland Lake High School 1936-1939. Jack played a little tennis, baseball and swimming. In June 1940 he worked as a grocery clerk for Northern Retail Stores and then for the T. Eaton Company , November 194O-1941. This was followed by Wright Hargreaves Mines during 1941-1942 where he worked as a machine runner until enlisting. |
He enlisted on 15 June 1942, and after training he was sent to the U.K. He embarked from Halifax on 13 September 1943 arriving at 3 PRC on 20 September 1943 and this was followed by 1 (0)AFU 23 November 1943, 28 OTU on 18 January 1944, 11 Base 26 April 1944 and finally 626 Squadron on 15 June 1944. Sadly Jack then lost his life two weeks later on 1 July 1944. |
