Miscellaneous Information
Glen was born on 14 October 1913 at Grayson County, Texas,USA. His father, who died in 1943, was a farmer, born in Michigan, and his mother was born in Sherman. He had two brothers Claude and Jewell as well as sisters Ruby, Hazell and Callie. Another sister, Anna Lou died on 15 May 1940. He attended Valley Summit school 1919-1926, Sherman, Texas. Sherman High 1926-1931 and American University of Commerce, Chicago, Illinois 1931-1933. His sport interests were golf and riding. Between 1931-1933 Glen was unemployed or did odd jobs. He then worked as a bookkeeper for Litsey Motor Co. between 1933-1937, as a salesman for Shipp Motors 1937-1940 and then as a Bookkeeper in Dallas, 1940-1941. |
He then enlisted on 7 August 1941 and after training embarked from Halifax on 28 March 1943 arriving at 3PRC on 5 April 1943. He was then at 15(P)AFU 1 June 1943 and 20 OTU 14 August 1943. Sadly Glen was to lose his life on 8 October 1943. |
