Miscellaneous Information
Alfred was born at Victoria British Columbia on 21 March 1918. His father was an Auto Camp owner and was born in Berkshire, England and his mother born Orcas Island, Washington, USA. He had one sister, Gloria Ophelia. The schools he attended were Colwood 1924- 1932 and then Mount Douglas 1932-1936 (High School Graduation). His sport interests were basketball and football and he was a good rifle shot. Alfred worked as a waiter between 1936-1940 at Bright Spot, and then at the Dugout Hotel from 1941 until enlisting (both in Victoria). |
After enlisting on 13 January 1942 and initial training, Alfred embarked from Canada for the U.K. on 30 June 1943. He arrived at 3PRC on 8 July 1943 and then continued to 4(0)AFU 27 July 1943, 82 OTU 31 August 1943, 31 Base 10 December 1943, 51 Base 13 March 1944 reaching 44 Squadron on 29 March 1944. Sadly on 25 June 1944, Alfred lost his life. |
