Miscellaneous Information
Edward was born on 13 April 1915 at Talmage, Saskatchewan. Both parents were born at Lindsay, Ontario and his father was a Lumber Agent. He had a brother Paul Chester Shea whom he named as next of kin after his father had retired. He attended Netherhill School 1921-1930 (Public) followed by Bedford Road Collegiate, Saskatoon, between 1930-1931 (Snr. Matric). He then studied at Saskatoon Normal school 1932-1933. Edward then became a teacher at Denehurst school, Brock, 1935-1937, and after a break to do a spell of studying, then worked as a Mine Mucker at Trail, British Columbia in a mining and smelting company between 1938-1939. He then resumed teaching at Netherhill until 1940 when he enlisted on 28 June. The sports he enjoyed were baseball, hockey, tennis and basketball and his hobby was collecting rock formations. |
