Arthur was born on 6 October 1921 at Fork River, Manitoba. His father was an aircraft plant Inspector, born at Fork River, and his mother was born in Montevideo, Minnesota, USA. He had two sisters. The schools he attended were both in Winnepegosis, 1929-1935 and again in 1935-1938. He was a metal worker 1939-1940 (motor body repairs) and was then a fire fighter, followed by a spell of fishing. Arthur enjoyed playing tennis, swimming and baseball. |
He enlisted on 8 May 1942. After initial training he was posted to the U.K. and arrived at 3 PRC. He was then posted to 9(0)AFU on 21 June 1943, 81 OTU 3 August 1943, 1656 CU 28 October 1943, 11 Base 19 January 1944 and 101 Squadron 16 March 1944. Sadly, Arthur then lost his life on 4 May 1944. |
