Bartlett was born on 7 April 1921 at Toronto, Ontario. His father (deceased) was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and as well as his military career, had also had been a textile manufacturer . His mother had been born in Washington D.C., USA. His brother, Charles Brown Rogers was a Trooper in the Canadian Army overseas. The schools Bartlett attended were Rosedale between 1926-1929 and then Crescent Private 1929-1934. He then gained his Senior Matric at Upper Canada College between 1934-1939. Whilst there he joined the Upper Canada Cadet Battalion where he was a Sgt. Major between 1934-1939. Bartlett travelled to the USA where he attended the Tri-State College in Angola, Indiana, where he gained a BSc. degree in Aeronautical Engineering . He enjoyed most sports. |
Bartlett enlisted on 10 April 1942. After enlistment and training in Canada, Bartlett was posted to the U.K. where he embarked on 18 March 1943. He then went to 9 (0)AFU 21 June 1943, 81 O8TU 3 August 1943, 1662 CU 29 October 1943, and 625 Squadron on 23 February 1944. It was just four weeks later on 24 March 1944 that Bartlett was to lose his life. |
