Miscellaneous Information
Albert was born on 23 April 1924 in Toronto. His father was born in Oil City, Ontario and worked as a truck driver and his mother was born in Toronto. He had two half sisters, Alice and Laura and three half brothers Henry, Lloyd and Howard (Lawford).The schools he went to were Morse Street, Public School,1932-1939 ( Entrance) and Danforth Technical 1939-1940 (Matric) both in Toronto. Model aircraft were his hobby and his sport interests were baseball and hockey . Albert worked as a Furnace Man for General Steel Wares 1940-1941 and then as a Vat Dyer for T. Eaton Co. 1941-1942 when he then enlisted. He was a Corporal in the Queen’s York Rangers in Toronto, 1942 as a drummer. |
Albert enlisted on 16 July 1942 and after training embarked from Halifax on 22 October 1943 arriving at 3 PRC (RCAF) 31 October 1943. He went on to 29 OTU 16 November 1943; 17 OTU 19 November 1943; 51 Base 29 February 1944 and 49 Squadron 27 May 1944. |
