Miscellaneous Information
Harold was born on 7 September 1919 at Cottam, Gorfield, North Ontario. His father was born in Windsor, Essex County, and worked as a Foreman for Canadian Bridge Co. and his mother born in Colchester, North Windsor. The schools he attended were Cottam Public 1925-1934, Walkerville High School 1934-1935 (1st year High School) and then Windsor Vocational 1935-1939 studying Machine Shop and Drafting. He attained High School Entrance, I year Junior Matric and spent four years at the Tech. The sports he engaged in were skating, bowling and billiards and his hobby was radio mechanics. He worked as a Machinist for two years (1939-1941) at the Canadian Bridge Company in Windsor, and then as a Tool maker for Ford Motor Company during 1941 until enlistment on 10 April 1941. |
After enlistment and early training Harold embarked from New York on 4 May 1943, reaching 3 PRC on 12 May then 14 OTU 25 May 1943, 1654 CU 14 July 1943, and 207 Squadron on 19 August 1943. Just twelve days later, on 31 August 1943, Harold very sadly lost his life. |
