Miscellaneous Information
A talented athlete who held the record for running a mile at the age of 15 (4 minutes 51 seconds) which still stood in 1952. He also played football and cricket for local teams |
Kenneth's father, Bert Pinchin, (1399 A.E. Pinchin) fought in the 2nd Monmouthshire Regiment during the first World War and had the distinction of being the first Territorial soldier ever to be awarded a fighting decoration. He was awarded the DCM on Dec 8th 1914. Citation: "For very gallant conduct in leaving his trench under heavy fire to assist a wounded comrade, and, although himself wounded, remaining with the man until he died" (London Gazette 16 January 1915). |
