Op de kavel bij deze herdenkingspaal in november 1959 onderdelen van een Brits vliegtuig, waaronder een deel van een staartkoepel. Uit het type hiervan kan worden afgeleid dat hier of een Vickers Wellington of een Avro Lancaster bommenwerper van een late serie was neergestort. Helaas is de identiteit van dit toestel nooit vastgesteld

| Reason for Aircraft Loss | Shot down by a night-fighter flown by Oblt. Hans Leickhardt of 2./NJG5 (detached to 11./NJG1) at 01.06 hrs and crashed into the IJsselmeer near Eskimolaan, 20km NW of Harderwijk. The crash site is now located on reclaimed land and a memorial post marks the spot. |
