Miscellaneous Information
Gordon was born at Toronto, Ontario on 12 December 1922. His father, a Stationary Engineer was born in England and his mother in Scotland. He had three sisters Kathleen Marion, Mary Elinor, and Elizabeth Jessie. Gordon attended Earl Haig Public School 1928-1936 (High school entrance) and Danforth Technical School 1936-1940 (chemistry course). His sport interests were tennis and swimming and he had some knowledge of photography which he enjoyed as a hobby. He worked at the Ontario Research Foundation where he was a Laboratory Assistant from May 1940 onwards. |
Gordon enlisted on 10 April 1942 and after training embarked from Canada on 23 June 1943. After arrival in the U.K. he spent some time at 15 (P) AFU and then at 16 OTU in December 1943. He arrived at Scampton in March 1944 and eventually arrived at 50 Squadron on 9 June 1944. Sadly he lost his life from 50 Squadron on 24 July 1944. |
