Miscellaneous Information
Anthony was born in Vancouver on 21 May 1922. His father was born in Larisa, Greece and was a Merchant, his mother born in Kirkcaldy, Scotland. He had one sister Agnes and four brothers: James, George, William and Paul. The schools he attended were General Gordon, Vancouver 1928-1928, (General); Lord Tennyson, Vancouver, 1928-1934 (General); Kitsilano Junior High, 1934-1937. (General) and Kitsilano High, 1937-1940 (Junior Matric). Anthony engaged in most sports including basketball, softball, rowing, swimming and tennis. He worked as a clerk for Bosson’s Wholesale Drugs, Vancouver 1940-1941 and then was engaged in Finishing work at Boeing Aircraft, Vancouver 1941-1942. |
Anthony enlisted on 11 May 1942 and after training embarked for the U.K. on 9 March 1943. Arriving at 3 PRC on 18 March 1943 he then went to 9 (0) AFU 10 May 1943, 30 OTU 8 June 1943, 1667 CU 30 August 1943, 1656 CU 1 October 1943 and 166 Squadron on 3 February 1944. |
