To de nacht van 15.06.1943 om 1.11 ur, stortte ongeveer 50 meter achter deze plaats de Lancaster ED-973 van het 100 ste squadron neer nadat het door en Duits jachtvliegtuig was aangeschoten. Drie uur eerder was her opgestegen van de Engelse Basis Waltham
Translation "On the night of 15.06.1943 at 1.11 am, the Lancaster ED973 of 100 Sqn RAF crashed about 50 meters behind this place after being shot by a German nightfighter. Three hours earlier it had taken off from the English base Waltham near Grimsby in Lincolnshire, the goal of the mission was the German city of Oberhausen. The seven-man crew perished" |
