Miscellaneous Information
George was born in Keeler, Saskatchewan on 8 December 1923. His father worked as a carpenter and was born in Minnesota, USA, and his mother in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He had two sisters, Hazelwood Enid and Reta Mae. George went to Keeler School, Saskatchewan and Keeler High, between 1929-1940 and achieved grades (1 - X). His sport interests were softball and hockey. He was working for his father, farming, between 1940-1942, then for Swift Canadian, Moose Jaw, as a Packer for two months in 1942, followed by another two months with C.A.Stuart, Keeler, as a Hardware Clerk also 1942 until enlisting on 21 December 1942. |
After early training he embarked from New York on 8 October 1943 and arrived at 3 PRC on the 17th, this was followed by 16 OTU 2 November 1943, 51 Base 12 January 1944 and 106 Squadron 27 April 1944. He lost his life less than two months later. |
