Miscellaneous Information
William was born at Toronto, Ontario on 23 December 1922. His father was born in Toronto and worked as a Candy Maker and his mother was born in London, England. He attended Wilkinson Public school 1929-1936, and then went on to Danforth Technical school between 1936 and 1937 (Industrial course). The sports he enjoyed were baseball, rugby swimming and skating. William worked at odd jobs as a machine operator and electrician’s helper and then enlisted on 31 July 1941. |
After training he was posted to the U.K. and embarked from Canada on 13 March 1942. After arriving at 3PRC on 24 March 1942 he went to 3 AGS 28 May 1942, 26 OTU 25 June 1942 and 142 Squadron 15 August 1942. Nineteen year old William very sadly lost his life the following month on 5 September 1942. |
