Patrick was born on 12 July 1920 at Memphis, Tennessee. His father was a Banker born at Bells, Texas and his mother was born in Memphis. She was shown on Patrick's enlistment papers as deceased. He attended schools in Memphis: the Public School 1926-1933 and the High School 1933-1937. He attained High School entrance and Junior Matric. Patrick then took a civil engineering course at Texas A&M College, between 1937-1941 and also took a course as a surveyor/planimater at A.A.A. Memphis during 1938-1939 before returning to school. His sport interests were football, tennis, basketball, swimming and horseback riding. He also had a private pilot’s licence. |
Patrick enlisted at Windsor on 13 February 1941 (while the United States was still neutral) and after training embarked for the U.K. on 8 January 1942. He arrived at 3 PRC on 21 January 1942, 3 SFTS 16 February 1942, and 22 OTU on 26 May 1942. Sadly Patrick lost his life two months afterwards. |
