This aircraft was lost on its 44th operational sortie |
Charles was born on 10 May 1923 at Baldwinton, Saskatchewan. His father was a farmer who had been born in Huntley, Scotland and his mother was born in Edinburgh (died February 1942). He had a sister Ethel. He attended Vance School 1930-1937 (Grade 8) and then worked for his father between 1937-1941. Charles then enlisted on 10 December 1941. His sport interests were softball and skating. |
After initial training he then embarked from Canada on 28 October 1942 arriving in the U.K. at 3 PRC on 6 November 1942. From there he continued to 14 OTU on 2 February 1943, 1660 CU 10 April 1943 and 467 Squadron on 18 May 1943. Sadly, Charles then lost his life on 4 September 1943. |
