Miscellaneous Information
John was born on 21 December 1918 at Humber Bay, Ontario. His father, a carpenter, was born at Hull, Yorkshire, England and his mother was born in Grimsby, England. He attended Humber Bay School 1925-1932 followed by Mimico High School 1932-1936 (Commercial). He also went to Central Commerce, at University of Toronto (Educational Course). His sport interests were hockey and baseball and his hobby was riding motorcycles. John worked as a truck driver for G.R. Bailey between 1937-1939 and then for Scott Jackson Construction during 1939. |
He enlisted in Toronto on 27 March 1941 and after training was posted to the U.K. After embarking from Canada on 30 April 1942 he arrived at 3PRC on 13 May 1942 followed by 3 (0) AFU, 23 OTU 14 July 1942. John was to sadly lose his life on 16 September 1942. |

Reason for Loss | Airborne 2022. Crashed at Baerl near Repelen Lohmansheide, near Krefeld, where the crew were buried in the Hauptfriedhof. They have been subsequently re-interred in the Reichwald Forest War Cemetery. |
