Miscellaneous Information
Paul was born at St. Boniface, Manitoba on 20 February 1923. His father was born in Nice, France and was a sheet metal worker and his mother was born in Italy (Omelte). He had a sister Marguerite and brothers, Barthelemy, Jean and Henri. He attended Provencher School , St. Boniface, 1930-1935, followed by King George V, (public) 1935-1940. For sport he enjoyed hockey, swimming, baseball and football. Paul worked as an apprentice joiner for A.T. Wilson, Acme, Saskatchewan during September 1940, then enlisted on 20 November 1941. |
After training he was posted to the U.K. and embarked from Canada on 28 October 1942. After arriving at 3PRC on 6 November 1942 he proceeded to 14 OTU 2 February 1943, 1660 CU 10 April 1943, 9 Sqn 18 May 1943, and 619 Squadron on 27 June 1943. Sadly Paul was to lose his life on 1 September 1943 at the age of twenty years. |
