Dit monument is opgericht ter nagedachtenis aan de zeven bemanningsleden van een Engelse Avro Lancaster ( R 7501 ) bommenwerper van de Royal Air Force, die op de avond van 5 Oktober 1942 boven Brunssum werd neergehaald en in de wijk Leeuwstuk terechtkwam. Alle bemanningsleden, zes uit Engeland en één uit Australie. kwamen daarbij om het leven.
Translation "This monument was erected in memory of the seven crew members of an English Avro Lancaster (R 7501) of the Royal Air Force, which was shot down above Brunssum on the evening of 5 October 1942 and ended up in the Leeuwstuk district. All crew members, six from England and one from Australia. were killed" |
