Born in Edmonton, Middlesex on 3 December 1919. His siblings were: Robert C. Moore (born 1914), Hilda C. Moore (born 1921) and Derek A. Moore (born 1936). He attended Trinity Grammar School, Wood Green, London. In September 1939 his family were living at 21 Weir Hall Gardens, Edmonton, Middlesex. At that time Robert was a Sergent in the RAFVR attending No. 3 Initial Training Wing, Hastings, Sussex. (745494). 130330 Sgt. Ronald Victor Moore enlisted as a RAFVR Pilot after January 1937. He flew his first operation with 77 Squadron in early November 1940. He completed a tour of operations before being transferred to No. 10 OTU (likely June 1941) as F/Sgt. He was commissioned as Pilot Officer 1 May 1942 from WO and promoted to Flying Officer 1 November 1942. |
