Miscellaneous Information
William was born on 16 September 1919 at Kingston, Ontario. Both parents were born at Kingston, Ontario and his father is shown as a Classed Conductor with CNR. He attended St. Michael’s Academy 1926-1933 (Old Grammar School), and St. Michael’s High School 1933-1940 (Jnr. and Snr. Matric). His sport interests were hockey, baseball, rugby and football amongst others and his hobbies photography, reading and model aircraft. William worked part time at Loblaw’s Grocetaria Co. in Belleville, Ontario, as a clerk between 1937 and 1940. |
He enlisted on 2 October 1940 and after training embarked from Canada on 18 September 1941 arriving at 3PRC on 28 September. He then went to 2 S S on 10 October 1941, 16 OTU 27 January 1942 and 61 Squadron 10 June 1942. Sadly William was to lose his life a few weeks later on 30 July 1942. |
