Miscellaneous Information
Born 1 April 1921, Chorley, Lancs. Edward and Esther married in 1911 in Chorley. The family emigrated from Southampton aboard the SS Ruapeha on 5 November 1923 bound for Auckland. They had lived in Corporation Road, Chorley. Edward Jr. was educated at Hokitika District School. He was an assistant Engineer prior to enlisting on 17 August 1941. He was initially buried in Wilhelmshaven Military Cemetery, reburied on 8 July 1947. |

Reason for Loss | Aircraft took off from Syerston at 1815 hrs detailed to attack targets in Wilhelmshaven. Probably collided with ED330 after the latter was hit by flak with the result that it lurched and collided with R5750. Crashed between Coldewei & Altengroden near Wilhelmshaven at 20.47hrs. |
