Reason for Loss | Aircraft ditched near to the Isles of Scilly. Sgt MacKenzie sustained a multiple fracture to one leg and succumed to the combined effects of his injury, shock and exposure. The other crew members were recovered by the Cutty Sark. The crew later named their 78 Squadron Lancaster after the vessel. |
