Miscellaneous Information
Keith was born on 16 March 1923. His father was born in Ingersoll, Ontario but lived in Ferndale, Michigan, and worked in a factory. His mother was born in London, England and her later address is shown as Ontario Hospital, London, Ontario. Keith had a brother Eugene and a sister who had died at the age of two years. The schools Keith attended were Victory Memorial, Ingersoll 1928-1936 and High School, Ingersoll 1936-1941 (Matric. Grade XIII). Keith worked as an apprentice at Thurtell’s Drug Store in Ingersoll between 1941-1942. In 1943 he went on a WETP course at Montreal University and on 16 February 1944 he married Margaret Gray Bowie in Lachine, Quebec. The sports he participated in were hockey, baseball and basketball and his hobby was hunting. |
Keith enlisted on 15 October 1942 and after training embarked from Halifax for the U.K. on 10 April 1944. He arrived at 3 PRC on 19 April 1944, 3 (P) AFU on 4 July 1944, 10 OTU, 71 Base 24 November 1944 and finally 12 Squadron on 7 February 1945. Tragically, he was killed on his 22nd birthday. |
