Miscellaneous Information
Leonard was born at Lampman, Saskatchewan on 18 July 1921. His father was a farmer born in Ontario and his mother was born in England. He had a brother David Gotto Linton and sisters Mary, Edith and Helen. He attended Willmar S.D. School in Saskatchewan between 1928 and 1941 and attained both grades 8 and then Grade 12. Leonard worked for his father, farming at Douglaston, Saskatchewan. His sporting interests were hockey, baseball, and softball. He enlisted on 7 September 1942 at Regina. |
After enlistment and training he Embarked from Halifax on 26 August 1943 and after arrival at 3 PRC on 2 September 1943 progressed to 14 OTU on 21 September, 1661 CU 31 October 1943, 51 Base 22 January 1944 and 207 Squadron 24 January 1944. A few short weeks later Leonard very sadly lost his life from 207 Squadron on 20 February 1944. |
