Miscellaneous Information
Donald was born on 26 June 1917 at Dundas, Ontario. His father was born at Tillsonburg, Ontario and was a Shaper Hand (wood worker) and his mother (deceased) was born at Walkerville, Ontario. He had two brothers, Ivan and Ralph and two married sisters. Three more brothers had died in infancy. He attended Dundas Public school 1923-1933 (academic). Between 1933-1938 Donald worked for Jones Bros, Dundas in woodworking and then also in woodworking for P .W.Jardiner at Galt, between 1938- 1939. During 1939-1940 he worked in Filing for N. Slater of Hamilton and then for the Pratt & Whitney Co., in Dundas he was Thread Grinding 1940-1943. |
Donald enlisted on 20 September 1943. After initial training Donald embarked from Halifax on 16 June 1944 arriving at 3PRC RCAF on 25 June. He was then at 83 OTU on 18 July 1944, 11 Base 25 September 1944 and 12 Squadron 23 November 1944. Sadly Donald then lost his life on 16 January 1945. |
