Miscellaneous Information
Gerald was born at Laflech, Saskatchewan on 18 April 1921. His father, deceased, (no occupation shown) was born in Huron County, Ontario and his mother was born at Tottenham, Ontario. He had two brothers William Joseph and Melville Vincent, who was a Corporal in the RCAF. The schools he attended were Clairmont, 1931-1937 and St. Mary’s Boys 1937-1939 - both in Calgary. His sport interests were hockey, rugby and track and his hobby was bookkeeping. He worked for United Grain Growers as a Mailing Clerk in Calgary. Also attended Garbutts Business College for a short while, and had studied one year in Book keeping. |
Gerald enlisted on 19 December 1940 and after training was posted to the U.K. After his arrival he was posted to 424 Squadron on 6 November 1943 and then to 22 OTU on 23 December 1943. Sadly Gerald died on 23 March 1944 whilst at 22 OUT. |
