Miscellaneous Information
Born 1923, Lower Peover, Cheshire. His father Edgar was a hotel manager. The 1939 register showed him as being the Manager of the Buck Hotel, High Street, Bangor on Dee, Flintshire. Edgar died in Hereford on 23 October 1959. Kathleen remarried and became Mrs Mytton; she died in London in 1973. Roland was in the 41st Entry of Apprentices at Halton 1940-42. |

Reason for Loss | Coned by searchlights, hit by flak from several batteries, both land and marine, and crashed in the target area near the village of St. Pere en Retz at 23.41 hrs. The crew were initially buried in the local cemetery but were re-interred in 1946. The villagers erected a memorial and commemorate the crash every year. The crew had been posted in on 25 March 1943 and this was their first op. |
