Miscellaneous Information
Joseph was born on 6 October 1923 in Ottawa. Both parents were born in Ottawa and his father was a Grocer. Joseph also had a sister and they lived in Cumberland Street, Ontario. He attended Guiges Separate School 1929- 1935 (High school Entrance) and De La Salle Academy 1935-1939 (Junior Matric). Between 1939 -1942 he worked for his father as a clerk. His sporting interest was rugby. |
On 4 February 1942, Joseph enlisted and after training, embarked for the U.K. on 11 December 1942. He arrived at 3PRC on 19 December 1942, 10 (0) AFU 2 March 1943, 30 OTU 13 April 1943, 1656 CU 15 July 1943 and 12 Squadron on 5 September 1943. He was killed just three days before his 20th birthday. |
