Miscellaneous Information
William was born on 7 June 1914 at Winnipeg, Manitoba. His father was born in Russia and was a former publicist and his mother was born in Brussels, Belgium. He had one sister, Irene. He attended Strathesna Academy 1921-1928 and 1928-1932. He enjoyed most sports including hockey, rugby, tennis , baseball etc. William worked as an Electrical Appliance Reporter 1932-1934, then a variety of occupations including mines, lumberjack, road worker until he became a restaurant Manager for Murray’s Lunch from 1937 until enlisting in October 1942. |
After training he was posted to the U.K. and embarked from Halifax on 2 June 1944 arriving at 3PRC on 11 June 1944. He was then at 11 Base 15 August 1944 and 101 Squadron on 26 August 1944. Sadly, William then lost his life on 5 October 1944. |
