Reason for Loss | Whilst over the target an escape hatch was accidentally jettisoned. Homebound, the crew encountered snow showers, accompanied by very severe icing, and were obliged to descend. Thus, while flying low the Lancaster flew into trees near the village of Meligny-le-Grand (Meuse), 10 km WSW of Void-Vacon. |
