Frank was born on 16 August 1921 at Penticton, British Colombia. His father worked as a Licence Inspector and was born in Norwood, England and his mother was born at Red Deer, Alberta. He had three brothers, John Richard, Charles Peter and Geoffrey Victor and an adopted sister, Mary Elizabeth. He went to the Public School in Penticton 1928-1936 and then the High School, 1936-1941, both shown as semi-commercial. His main sport interests were tennis, swimming and diving and making model aircraft and studying aeronautics were his hobby. Frank was a Corporal in the B.C.Dragoon’s 1938-1940 and a Private in the Seaforth Highlanders 1940-1941. He worked as a clerk yardman and also spare gardener for A J Tough, the agent for the Shell Oil Company, Penticton. |
Frank enlisted on 20 February 1941 and after training embarked from Canada on 13 December 1941 for the U.K. where he arrived at 3PRC on 26 December 1941. He then went through 1SS 12 February 1942, 16 OTU 7 April 1942 and on to 61 Squadron on 11 July 1942. Frank was to sadly lose his life on 10 September 1942 from 61 Squadron. |
