Miscellaneous Information
Edward was born at Vancouver, B.C. His father was a locomotive engineer, born on the Isle of Wight, England, and his mother was born in Michigan, USA. The schools he attended were St. Joseph’s Separate school 1925-1933 ,followed by Port Arthur Tech. 1933-1937 Machine Shop). His sport interests were baseball, hockey, soccer, bowling and basketball. Edward worked at the Sturgeon River Gold mine, then as a cook for two months and then at the Canadian Car and foundry 1939-1941 as a clerk and riveter. |
He enlisted on 13 August 1941 at Saskatoon and after training embarked for the U.K. on 28 October 1942. He arrived in the U.K. at 3 PRC on 5 November 1942, 10 (0) AFU 14 December 1942, 28 OTU 2 February 1943, 1662 CU 15 May 1943 and 12 Squadron on 17 June 1943. Sadly Edward .was to lose his life on 27 August 1943 |
