Reason for Loss | Aircraft took off from Syerston detailed to attack targets in Hamburg. Shot down by flak of 4./Schw.Flak Abt. 262. 2./Schw. Flak Abt. 611 1., 2. & 4./Schw. Flak Abt. 606 and 3./Res.Flak Abt.222 and crashed midway between Hanover & Bremen at Lichtenmoor near Heemsen, North of Nienberg at 21.30hrs. The crew initially buried in Wunstorf General Cemetery but were reinterred on 20 June 1947. |
