Kenneth was born on 13 April 1914 in Saskatoon. His father, retired, was born in Blackstone, Massachusetts, USA and his mother in Bradford, Yorkshire. He had three living sisters, Sadie, Gladys and Doris, another two sisters had died, by accident, in infancy in 1912. Names unknown. He also had brothers, Harold, Sub Lieutenant RCNVR, Halifax, and Thomas who was a Corporal in the American army, Oakland, California. A third brother was killed in the Great War, 1914-1918. There was also another much younger brother aged 14 shown as Peter Donald Jackson —believed to have been adopted. Kenneth went to Westmount Public School 1920-1928 (Grade 8); Bedford Road Collegiate, 1928-1932 (Matric grade 11); Saskatoon Technical College 1932-1933 (Special Commercial). His hobbies were photography, shooting and hunting and sports interests, golf, skating and softball. Kenneth worked for J.I. Case Co, as a Stockman in the repair department for two summers during 1933-1934 and 1935-1936 and then for Dominion Motors as a Stockman and Cashier from 1936 until enlistment (four years). He married Jeanne Eileen (Steaves) on 24 February 1941 in Saskatoon. She worked at the school of Nursing in Vancouver. |
Kenneth enlisted on 27 June 1940 and after training embarked for the U.K where he arrived at 3 PRC on 20 April 1941. He was then at 19 OTU on 29 September 1941, 44 Sqn 1 November 1941, 207 Sqn 11 November 1941 and 61 Squadron 29 December 1941. |
