Miscellaneous Information
Stuart was born on 15 February 1919 in Lacombe, Alberta. His father, a telephone inspector, was born in Ponoka, Alberta and his mother was born in England. He had brothers Douglas and Donald and sisters Charlotte and Catherine. Stuart attended schools in Ponoka completing the Public Course and then Junior Matric in High school. The sports he took part in were mainly tennis and rugby but also skiing and hockey. His hobby was photography. Between 1936 and 1940 Stuart worked as a clerk for the Ponoka Pharmacy. |
After enlisting on 15 October 1940 and initial training, Stuart then embarked from Canada on 16 July 1941. He arrived at 3 PRC in the U.K. on 16 August 1941, followed by 23 OTU on 23 August 1941 and 142 Squadron on 25 October 1941. He lost his life a little more than a month later. |
