Reason for Loss | Hit by Flak while passing over the German-Dutch border in the vicinity of Gronau, Germany. A fire broke out and the flying controls were severed. This aircraft was initially claimed by a night-fighter but this was later rejected in favour of flak from 2. & 5./Schw.Flak Abt.443(0), 1., 2. & 5.Schw.Flak Abt.324 & Z.B.V5755/56. Crashed with a full bomb load near the village of Glane, close to Over-Dinkel. Sgt. Ingram's body was found close by. |
