Miscellaneous Information
Cecil was born on 16 January 1915. Both parents were born in Colchester, Essex. His father, a soldier, had sadly lost his life in 1917. The schools he attended were Linwood School, St. James 1921-1927, St. James Collegiate 1927-1933, Wesley College 1930-1931. Cecil was then at the University of Manitoba 1931-1937 and again 1939-1940 when he gained a BSc (all in Winnipeg). His sport interests were swimming, canoeing, bowling and volleyball and his hobbies amateur photography and shooting. He was employed in the Game and Fisheries branch in the Province of Manitoba as a biologist from 1937 until enlisting in 1937. |
After initial training he was posted to the U.K. He embarked from Canada on 12 September 1941 and reached 3 PRC on 16 September 1941 and then 16 OTU on 7 October 1941. Sadly Cecil went missing during air ops on 29 July 1942. |
