Miscellaneous Information
Thomas was born on 21 May 1919 at Hamilton Ontario. His father was born at Hamilton and worked as an electrician and his mother was born at Arthur, Ontario. He attended St. Thomas Aquinas school 1926-1932, then Cathedral High School 1932-1937 and this was followed by a part time Apprentice Course at Hamilton Technical School 1937-1940 (maths and electrical)- all schools in Hamilton. The sports he took part in occasionally were, skating, hockey, golf and swimming. Thomas worked at the Canadian Westinghouse Co. in Hamilton as an electrical machinist apprentice from 1937 onwards and then enlisted on 16 October 1940. |
After initial training he was posted to the U.K. and embarked from Canada on 22 September 1941. He arrived at 3PRC on 7 October 1941 and then went on to 22 OTU 28 October 1941, 214 Squadron 22 May 1942. Thomas very sadly lost his life on 31 May 1942. |
