Miscellaneous Information
Francis was born on 16 June 1913 at Montreal, Quebec. His father, retired, was born in Montreal and his mother in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. He had three married sisters, Helen, Nancy and Elizabeth. No brothers. He attended two schools: Selwyn House between 1921-1926 followed by Ashbury College, Ottawa 1926-1931. Selwyn House was a private, independent boys School in Westmount, Quebec. His sport interests were boxing, football, swimming and hockey and his hobby was motoring. Francis worked as a salesman at Hart & Tuckwell, 1931-1933 then transferred to Fruit importers Ltd. 1933-1935. He then worked as a secretary for his father (Frank Hart) for five years until enlistment on 22 June 1940. |
He embarked from Canada on 6 April 1941 for the U.K. where he arrived at 3PRC on 19 April. He then went to 12 OTU on 26 April 1941 and to 150 Squadron on 20 June 1941. It was from there that Francis sadly lost his life just one week later, on 27 June 1941. |
