| Reason for Aircraft Loss | Shot down by a night fighter between Munchengladbach and Koln(Oberleutnant Reese & Unteroffizier Heu of 2./NJG 1), flying a Bf 110 from Venlo airfield in the Netherlands. The tail gunner was jammed in his turret as a result of the enemy action. F/L Hamman instructed Monk to bale out as he and the other three were going to try to release the tail gunner. Monk baled out as ordered, was captured, and returned home in 1945. |
