Reason for Loss | Strayed from the airfield while flying local circuits, following which one engine is thought to have failed and the pilot was unable to regain the airfield. Its wing tip clipped a tree and spun the aircraft into the ground at Scottlethorpe, near Bourne, Lincolnshire, at which point it burst into flames. Until recently pieces of wreckage were still evident when the ground was disturbed during ploughing. |
